Save On the Set

If you haven’t purchased any of the volumes in the Reformed Expository Commentary series, you can now purchase the whole current set (8 volumes) and you save $23.79! The most expensive single volume in the set is less than that, so you get a bit more than one volume for free by ordering the whole set.

    Just an FYI:

For those of you who have been following the Federal Vision controversy in the PCA, I would ask for your prayers on Friday (today) from 10 am to noon PST, during which the Pacific Northwest Presbytery will be discussing the study committee’s reports concerning the theology of Peter Leithart.

The study committee was composed of seven men (four ministers [including me] and three elders). The majority report concluded was signed by four men and that Leithart’s views do indeed fall within the bounds of confessional Reformed theology, while the minority report, authored by yours truly, concluded that he falls outside the pale. Presbytery will act on the reports one way or another on Friday, and I will attempt to post an update when I can. In the meantime, please pray that God’s will would be done.

    So why bother praying?

I’m sorry but asking Almighty God to give someone a “little push” is just ridiculous. What if Leithart doesn’t want to be pushed? Does God know whether the little push will work or not before he does it? If it is down to Leithart’s will then does any pushing make a real difference?

    Any feedback from this morning?

Click my name and you’ll be directed to my blog. Leithart was approved by an overwhelming majority.

    More to come….

Sorry to hear that. I’ll be interested to read the details. I assume that the report and transcripts will be public.

I’d really hate to see another LAP/Wilkins case.

THANK YOU for your good and hard work, and for your love for the broader PCA. Many, many of us are deeply grateful, and thank the Lord for you.

I echo Jeff’s thoughts precisely, and urge you to continue on in the good work, and appeal this to the GA.

I’ll ditto Jeff and Lane. We’ll be praying as you take this to the GA. I pray that we will be an encouragement to you.

Thanks, all. As I mentioned, we will formally complain within 30 days, and then will take that complaint to the next level assuming it is dismissed at our stated meeting in January. And I would not be surprised if other presbyteries file charges against the PNW Presbytery as well.

Let me add my note of thanks and support for your willingness to bear this burden. I will be praying both for your humility/wisdom and how others might be of help to you. Please be sure to let us know if there is anything any of us can do to assist you.

this is a great set for pastors that has trouble doing expository preaching, but in terms of scholarship I find these volumes has little to provide. When I read these sets I feel like they are preaching more than they are doing exegetical commentary, just my 2 cents.
