A wonderful biography of Jonathan Edwards just got shortened into a more popular version by the same author. The author is one of the foremost Edwards scholars in the world.

    Hi Lane,

    I just ordered my copy today. I haven’t been able to peruse the book yet, but the publisher is billing it as not an abridged version of Marsden’s longer work. They say:

    A Short Life of Jonathan Edwards is not an abridgment of Marsden’s earlier award-winning study but is instead a completely new narrative based on his extensive research. The result is a concise, fresh retelling of the Edwards story, rich in scholarship yet compelling and readable for a much wider audience, including students.

    I wonder if Marsden has really been able to pull this off. It seems like a tall order to me. Nonetheless, I have no reason to doubt him. What a gifted historian he is! I’m looking forward to receiving and reading his new biography.
