Wishing Dr. Thomas All the Best

Dr. Derek Thomas has accepted a call to Columbia, SC to be associate pastor there alongside his longtime friend, Dr. Sinclair Ferguson (now there’s a one-two punch!). This blogger, who has certainly benefited greatly from Dr. Thomas’s books, wishes him all the best. No miser is First Presbyterian Church, to allow Dr. Thomas to go! They will miss him greatly. Speaking of Dr. Thomas, make sure you check out his new commentary on Acts (it has been published, but is not quite yet available at WTS).

Wow! That is interesting news. Columbia, SC can regain it’s prominence as a capital of Reformed Thought & Life! They don’t need a seminary in Columbia, just a home for mentoring and making disciples. Can’t wait for a “Cola” Church network to spring up with church plants in various parts of the city and region. Cola is what regulars call the Columbia Airport.

Makes me smile to think that Thornwell’s pulpit is filled by both a Scottish and a Welsh accent.

Wow! Will South Carolinian ears be able to distinguish between a Scots and a Welsh accent? I’m sure both good doctors will help the flock learn to make the distinction. :-)

Rev Drs Ferguson and Thomas have both served on the Banner of Truth Trust board, are fine authors, stalwart Presbyterians, and fantastic preachers.

But their warm piety and zeal for seeing the saints “get” the doctrines of faith, and love according thereto are also tremendous blessings to the church. Their love shown to this sinner @ BoTT Ministers’ Conferences has been a tremendous blessing!

Both are also teaching at Ligonier’s new Academy with R.C. Sproul.

May God bless their new co-adventure for the King!

Reed, the question is, can these British Isles saints sort out OUR native dialects? (Probably: They’ve each been in the Amer. south a long time!)
