Special on Whitaker

Kyle Borg at Reformation Heritage Books has informed me that they are offering a special on Whitaker’s Disputations. List price is $40, and they normally sell it for $30, but now they are offering it for the low price of $20. If you don’t have this volume, you need to purchase it now. Of course, it is available on Google books. However, I would still recommend a hard copy, as this is one you want to have in your hands, and you want to be able to mark it up.

    Thanks Lane,

I would like to ditto this. You will never be able to purchase Whitaker’s volume any cheaper than this. It is a necessity, I think, for any minister to have in his library, and the best representation in Whitaker’s day, if not in any day, of a defense of Holy Scripture against Roman claims. I have two Parker edition copies, as well as the virtual facsimile edition of the former that Soli Deo Gloria has published.

It is this volume that the Westminster divines kept before their minds when framing the first chapter of the WCF.

I have had this book in my library for years, and highly recommend it. That is a good price for the book. I paid more for it in seminary.

    1. I believe his Disputations are available at http://www.books.google.com, if one is on the run (travelling) and needs a laptop version.
    2. Whittaker is perhaps one of the finest on this subject. Dr. Philip Edcumbe Hughes, now gone, former Prof at WTS/Phila, and a mentor thought highly of this work.
    3. Whittaker taught at Cambridge during Queen Bess 1’s day. Slight Puritanical influences, but still a Conformist and Prayer Book man.
    4. Thanks for carrying updates on this important and timely voice. May he speak anew and afresh to us in our time.
