Another New Feature of WordPress

I don’t know that anyone would want to use this feature, as most people simply use a blog reader to keep track of blogs. Nevertheless, WordPress has added an email subscription feature. If one scrolls down on the sidebar long enough, you will find it. For anyone who wants this feature, they can have it.

Good move. Although I don’t use the email option I am always surprised by how many actually subscribe to my site via email. Many web users only follow a small handful of sites and an email subscription works best for them. Try asking an Internet novice what “RSS” is and they’ll stare blankly, but ask them what “email” is and they’ll have an idea.

If you can edit the text around it you may want to mention it’s “free.” Strangly, many can think that subscribing or signing-up costs something. When I added the words “free” my sign-up rate increased noticeably

I’ll retreat now to my RSS reader to safely follow Green Baggins from a distance. :-)

Hey, how come you don’t have snow on your blog yet? Speaking of features.

    Steven,

The snow really slows down page loading. Seemed like a good idea at the time…

    Hi Lane,
This is my attempt to liven up Sarah’s Winter days in North Dakota. She said that she will “Play ball” the next time that she is over in your office. It would be GREAT if you could help her to start a blog of her own! :)

    Dear Sarah,

I recently was tagged by one of Cora’s blogging friends. I had fun reading her answers and so I decided to play along too. I thought you may want to join in the game of tag.
It’s very easy to do. All you have to do is go to my blog; copy the questions; and answer them here. No, you don’t have to, but I just thought it would be a fun way to liven up your day and I’d love to hear what you say. :)

Is everything alright with Pr. Lane? Is he on vacation? What’s goin’ on around this place? It’s like a ghost town, ’round here.

I received an email from him the other day. Maybe his computer iced over…

I’m around, Tim. Haven’t been able to post much recently, that’s all.
