What greater words can be said about a man’s life than, he fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith. Today we can say that about our Brother D.James Kennedy. To God be the praise for preserving His people.
I used to be a journalist at a big daily paper. Two reporter colleagues there — a married couple — feel indebted to Pastor Kennedy. Years ago, when they were writing for one of the Florida papers and didn’t consider themselves Christians, the husband, M., went to interview Pastor Kennedy. Kennedy got personal. You can guess what he said. He asked my friend what he’d say if he died that night and God asked why he should let him into his heaven. M. took the conversation to heart, and took it home to B., his wife. They became Christian believers.
A few years ago, after M. and B. had moved to Texas and we began working together, B. had occasion to call Pastor Kennedy for a story. She told him, for the first time, what his conversation with M. that day had meant, and expressed her thanks.

I wonder how some of you feel about Pastor Kennedy’s relying on the likes of Bishop N.T. Wright to help present the real Jesus of the Gospels, crucified and risen, to the public. Bishop Wright was featured in Pastor Kennedy’s documentary Who Is This Jesus?, a conservative response to Peter Jennings’ ABC special The Search for Jesus. Both documentaries appeared several years after Bishop Wright’s first New Perspective books hit the shelves. The video featuring Bishop Wright is still available from Coral Ridge Ministries.
Pastor Kennedy also featured the likes of R.J. Rushdoony and Gary North, theonomists, on his programs. Presumably in a positive light.

Short answer: just because someone is wrong in one area doesn’t mean he can’t be helpful in another area. Wright is helpful on many things, as a matter of fact.

I am sad that he is gone, but happy that he is seeing the wonderful, beautiful face of his Lord and Savior.

We may disagree on theology here, but we won’t in glory.
I loved watching Dr. Kennedy. I learned much from his ministry.
