I am not sure what he means by this. I would hope that the context would shed light on the quote.

The context was a series of quotations on evangelism. What I think he means is that just as Christ came out of His comfort zone to minister to us, so also must we. Jesus, in coming out of His comfort zone, was in an area that was a threat to His holiness. The balance between being in the world and yet not of the world is I think what he is getting at.
